Tarot of Marseille
In collaboration with Léa Diaby, we reinterpreted the 22 major arcana of the Tarot de Marseille as part of a school project tied to a trip to Venice. The cards were produced and sold to help fund the trip.
After studying existing tarot reissues, we chose Venice as our visual world for how well it resonated with the symbolism of the cards: water, ever-present in the city, echoes the cards' themes of passage and transformation; the masks of carnival connect with the mystery and double identity at the heart of tarot. Each card therefore offers a double reading: its original meaning and its Venetian transposition.
We split the 22 arcana evenly between us, adapting our respective styles to maintain overall visual consistency. Coordinating style across such a large number of plates was one of the project's main challenges.
