Der Vampyr

Der Vampyr is a motion design exercise: animating a fictional tarot card to explore the tension between a static medium and the life you can breathe into it.

The vampire emerged as a natural figure to extend the world of tarot: a Gothic, liminal figure, caught between death and life. The horror aesthetic guides the graphic choices: a dark palette, slow, organic movement and dense typography.

The video combines drawings made in Procreate with vector animation in After Effects.
